Retirement not very very special……………..

VVS Laxman retired from international cricket after a fantastic career. During his career he emphasized how good a test batsman he is. Especially in the second innings. He played the best innings by an Indian batsman that was against Australia at Culcutta.Following up an uphill task India recovered from an almost impossible position to hit back and even able to win the test match. That indeed was a turning point in Indian cricket and team India has started the journey to the number one position in world cricket. As he was called Very very special he is a special cricketer. He had an uncanny knack of performing against Australia, the best team in world cricket that time. He never promised to perform. He often got out soft. But he led many a fight back in the second innings to success. Despite his fantastic career his retirement was not befitting. In the fag end of his career, his inclusion in the limited version of cricket was ruled out and out of question. But he was retained in test squad. His technique was suited for test cricket. He played elegantly and intelligently in the trying pitches and batting was looked the easiest think in the world. Gaps were seemed big, the full length and short pitched balls disappeared behind squire with a turn of the wrist. And his defence was solid.
He was not in his best of form. He was not able to save India from humiliation in England and Australia although he was expected to perform and play a crucial role in Indian batting. Team India is in a position to rebuild the team and induct fresh players, the Indian selectors made a right decision and asked Laxman to play the retirement series against Nezealand. But unfortunately the direction has heart   Laxman and he promptly announced his retirement. He might have thinking to continue for at least one year. We know that players like Cheteswar Poojara,Badrinath,Rohit Sharma,Suresh Ryna,Rehana are knocking at the door step of Test cricket. Even Virat Kohli could get only a late invitation to Test Cricket.Tendulkar might well announce his retirement soon.Drvid already bade good bye. Even Sehwag might get a close call. We should be prepared for the future. I am of the opinion that selectors made a right decision. The senior player who is no consistant and a player who is inevitable for the balance of the team should call it a day. Nobody wants themselves to be out of the limelight because of the glory and wealth in playing for team India is imaculous. We have seen Laxman sitting in bench even for Kochin Tuskers. And he was the only players who was rejected by all IPL teams last season. A player should not go down to such an extreme. Players become a burden for the team. While some body mention the fact they feel humiliated. And players who are already retired and had a similar finish to their career start giving statements against Captain and Selectors. Even great players like Kapil,Mohinder,Shastry,Ganguly,Vishwanath had such a finish.
I think the players should recognise the fact and they should finish the song when the throught is good and their form is on song. Otherwise the people will lose respect and start cursing their one time hero. This is a warnig to all players.Especially the great Tendulkar. If you are great,if you got aged, your feet is not moving so fast, if you are not inevitable for the team if you don’t have much to achieve. Please call it a day.If you don’t do so no point in blaming others. No pointing in elleging a denial of decent retirement.
