SRI SATHYANARAYANA VRATHA

  • SRI SATHYANARAYANA VRATHA

Sri Sathyanarayana Pooja is a special Vishnu Pooja Performed in Kasaragod area and rarely seen in southern Kerala. This Pooja is perfomed for obtaining the blessings of Lord to enjoy each and every thing in the world.Dhana, dhanya ,iswaryam ,sreyas etc....etc.....The Lord Sathyanarayana is none other then lord Maha Vishnu.
Saint Narada was disturbed by the hardships people in the earth are experiencing and the lord Vishnu suggested the sathyanarayana pooja for overcoming all the hardships in the life.
Emphasis is given for the secure family life for offering this pooja, since husband and wife has to sit together hours and engage in various religious activities together. That is to say only one partner is incomplete in himself or herself with out the assistance from other partner which in itself is a unique, glorious message how to run the life. The Pooja comprises of pooja of Ganapathi,Laxmi,Yamuna devi, saligrama, and ofcourse Laxmi sahith sathyanarayana. The godliness is offered by avahana and after the pooja it is taken back ie visarjana. The Yamuna pooja is a another important and interesting part. The Pooja is performed on the well by offering different flowers etc.Water is taken from the well and kept for pooja.Another interesting part is the Katha Sravana. As many as 10 different stories of the Pooja is read for the assembled devotees. The special prasada ‘’sapada bhaksham’’ is a sweet made of wheet powder rava, poovanpazham, ghee etc
The pooja requires large preparation requiring different kinds of offerings such as flowers.astadravas etc. Many institutions conduct ‘’sarvajanika sathyanarayana pooja’’ because of the complexity of arrrangement.
It is said that one should attend the pooja with out any invitation on hearing the news on pooja.
The palm leaves ,kumbhas with mango leaves projecting out of it and a coconut above that with Darbha on the top denotes god Everything is special and invokes devotion among the devotees and this is all help them to involve in the pooja 100% and keep a hope to alleviate the hardships in the world and and have a better life.

GET TOGETHER AT CHERUKARA

Today I attended Veterence Association Gettogether function of retired Government Servents being held at Cherukara a beautiful village in Vellamunda of Wayanad District. The function was held in the residence of Sri Gangadharan a retired Co Operative Bank Manager. I have attended the meeting as Guest of Veterence Association and as host. This is because I stay occassionally in that house with my family.

The function got started at 11.00 A M under the Presidentship of Sri Mangalasseri Madhavan Nair a retired Teacher.Three eminent personalities Smt Beena,a resident of Vellamunda who bagged National Teachers Award,Sri jayaraj of Vellamunda who was recently promoted as Regional Deputy Director of Higher Secondary Schools,Sri Karunakaran Master a retired teacher and radio drama artist were Honoured.I have got an opertunity to deliver a felicitation speech.Being the Secretary of the Grama Panchayath and a person from Kasaragod District I was blessed with this chance, more over I was residing in that house.

I could see in Vellamunda lot of retired hands are engaged in socialwork in different feilds. Some of them are Mangalasseri Narayanaan Nair(Ponnuvettan),Sri Antony retired KSEB Engineer,Sri Chandran Master Retired HS Teacher,M Sreedharan Nair a retired Bank Manager and many many Teachers.Of course there were family members accompanying their dear ones. Most of the faces are familiar to me.It was very refresing to note that the retired hands are enjoing their life which inspired me with the hope that I too can enjoy like that in future.Mainly because being a serviceperson there are some restrictions for social work but after reirement one can proceed on his own way .There is no barriors or restrictions or sensoring. Both my parents are retired employees I know better about their feelings and emotions.

Cherukara is a beautiful village with a well known library and wast cultural heritage. It is a cultural centre with diverse people living together. There are Tribes,Ambala Vasies,Employees,Artists,Politicians,Social workers. We can find any sort of people in the Village.Who knows only to love. They show lot of affections to even strangers and they have all the formalities to win the heart of even strangers.I thing this is the benefit of keeping the Village traditions. In many parts of Kerala we love Arban Culture and we are fastly moving towards our goal. Here almost all the people assemble and help free of cost for any functions. Here unlike in other parts they dont want drinks or costly non vegitarian food. They treat this as their duty.Cherukra is actially a Valukara becase of all these. It is like a Village we only heard in Stories and Novels.

It was ironically the 25th Wedding Aniversary of Sri Gangadherettan and Prasannechi. They have two girls. One of them is married.I was treated just as one among their family members and I too was very comfortable in that house. They are very religious, vegitarians. And I was really surprised with the way in which they conduct Bhajans every evening and keep their house clean and tidy and obsorve all the traditions with atmost care.
In the whole the Gangadharettans family,Cherukara and Veterens Associaltion get together was a nice experiance.

WAR AGAINST PLASTIC-CALICUT

Yesterday I had a visit to Calicut Town.Thickly populated and I think most civilised population in Kerala live in Calicut.I visited the Mananchira squire.Maintanance work was going on and a lot of turn ups in the evening. Some of frustrating faces and some were casually spending times with family. Some were finding it easy to discuss family problems. Some were just married and some were about to marrySsme for sure will never marry but sharing veiws. But all important fact is that the people are civilised and they are not peeking into the privacy of others. In other part of Kerala people are very eager to find what others are doing and they just cant snatch their eyes from the others.
Secondly I had a visit with my wife to Calicut beach. How well it is maintained is quiet amazing. Here also different types of people are seen. Some had an artistic look watching the sunset as if they are going to swallow the setting sun.It is only in the city we have such a wonderful place.
Then I saw the work to irradicate plastic from Calicut.Messages displayed were wonderful. On that day no plastic day was observing. Some committed efforts are seen under the formidable Leadership of the District Collector Sri Salim.Who had already bagged admiration for his work during the Election .I am sure he will get good results in the campagning aganist the Plastic.
Why do we not open our eyes against plastic.I think this is a very simple way for social work.Make a pledge ourself that we wont use plastic. Then be a model carring a paper bag or cotton bag.It is high time we opened our eyes.We are turning our eyes from the biggest challenge mankind is going to face.We can overcome it by simple measures now.But we are not ready to give up little convenience. We are not ready to critisise or advise anybody ,because we are not ready to spoil our relations with anybody. We would rather suffer than spoil our relations. Some day somebody has to take lethal steps for the social reform.

India-Sauth Africa Cricket Series

That has been a fantastic seriesVery keenly contestedBoth the teams were trying to establish their domince in World Cricket.India had a slight edge over the oposition in my opinion mainly because the home advantage of the hosts. In the past india was seen strugling oversees on pacy wickets. But now we have some fantastic pace bowlers who could bring fear into oponent batsmen.Indias Zaheer Khan,Nehra,Ishant,Sree,Munaf has gone a long way in this regard. It is true that we have lost the all important one day series on the brim of the world cup.But one should remeber that we are playing without Sachin, sehwag and of course Gambheer. We are not taking the credit from the proteers as the only difference between the two teams was Morney Morkel with some amazing spell of bowling.Idia should be happy seeing the form of Yousaf Patan who has given signs of becoming a nightmare for the Opnents especially in subcontinent.
Lets hope that India will put up a fine show in the world cup with alltime best team on the cards.Only concern is the injury. Can we bade good by to Sachin with a world cup win ?
Lets hope for the best............

I have today completed week long computer training at M S Swaminathan Research Institute at Kalpatta. We had somenice time there with totally refreshing conditions.Away from our routeen work and hectic schedules we are totally ovewhelmed by the scenic beauty and diverse organic plants in the premises.Training was also interesting with instructors from IKM and it was a sencere effort for the computerisation of the Local Bodies.Few more baches to follow and I hope there will be a drastic change in the scenario of the local bodies.Mostly because the local bodies are striving hard to deliver good services to the general public with its limited resourses. No new posts are sanctioned and more and more responsibilities are conferred on them.Computerisation will be the only remedy infront. But the sencere effort from the peoples representatives and employees will deliver good results. Some of the beautiful images will be posted today in my blog. Thanks for visiting the blog.
