WANTED- ALL ROUNDERS

Indian team for the forthcoming lankan tour has been announced.Much to my disappointment there was nothing special. The selectors should have aimed at future rather than going for a momentary success.Ofcourse we have a very strong squad. But one should think that selectors have failed to have a long time perspective. Batting as usual is strong with world class batting line up. And bowling line up is also satisfactory. But we are not in a venture for new prospects but we are still hanging on to the old formula.
Where are   genuine allrounders ? alas …..selectors have fed up with  bowlers who can bat a bit and bowlers who can bowl a bit. They should not be called all rounders.Calling them all-rounder is shame for the designation. So what ……the so called all-rounders are dropped from the squad.Patan brothers,Jadeja were the victims. We are still in the hunt of genuine allrounders. We had one and only Kapil Dev,who was a genuine allrounder.Ofcourse there were Shastry,Chetan Sharma,Madan Lal ,Rojer Binny. But none of them could be called genuine allrounder.I can define an allrounder. In my veiw an allrounder should be a strike bowler. As a bowler he should be aggressive and should have the ability to pick up wickets. As a batsman he should have the ability to save a match for his team or to win the match for his team with his brisk innings. He should be a good fielder and a sharp catcher.Only Kapil Dev ad all these qualities in him and he was truly one among the four great allrounders of his time, along side Ian Botham,Richard Hadlee and Imran Khan.
Are we in the hunt of an allrounder.Badly we are not.We should develop an allrounder who can star in the squad atleast during the next world cup.We shouldn’t be satisfied with part time allrounders.Say for example the allrounder should have the ability to bowl as Zahir Khan or Ishant or Sreesanth and  bat like Dhoni
