Heroes Who can be emulated

Heroes-Icons for the future generations
This is the common question raised by parents who wish their children to be a great citizen of India and who wish their children to emulate great icons of their Nation. In the long past there were great icons in India in the form of polititions, scientists, sportsmen whose selfless service for the glory of the Nation thrilled their followers and quiet largely influenced their life. We had great Mahathma Gandhi ,Togore,Dhyan Chand,Jawaharlal Nehru,B R Ambedkar,Saints like Guru Nanank,Sree Narayana Guru. They were blemishless and had won the hearts of many an Indians with their selfless total commitment. They are all now out dated and are not with us.Of course we have, great heroes in our epics Sri Krishna,Sri Rama,Md Nabi and Jesus Christ. But the need of the hour is that we need contemporary heroes who live life parallel to us and set examples for the citizens.
We have political heroes sportsmen, and scientists diplomats, industrialists officials. But some were we see the blemish of being the fact that either the field in which they work on is tainted or they use their glory or heroism for the benefit of their personal material gain.
Politicians wants their position in the party to be secured and even the old men wish to protect their seat .At least they want their family members to be their successors. Ours is The largest republic in the world. Here the election is fought with muscle power and money power. Still there are many in Indian and Kerala politics who can be emulated as roll models.Atal Vajpay,A K Antony,V S Achuthanandan. But the evel part of politics is that their effort goes unnoticed and they do not gain any momentum in their effort.
In Cricket we have great icons like Sachin Tendulkar, the master blaster is still going strong and even surprise the young cricketers. He is known for his commitment towards his profession. But still there are doubts about his leadership qualitieees and his will power to deliver the good things, at the time of crisis. He too is gaining a lot of money out of Cricket. One can assess his greatness not just by the fact that what he does on the feild to gain money but by what he does with the money for the service of the humanity. We cheer him and admire him because he play cricket and play for our nation. But here we don’t get answer to our question of emulating the great characters..Tendulkar is a great icon striving hard for his success as a cricketer, and further he sets himself example of being a great family man And almost a blemishless character in himself as a person. But what about his commitment to the society. Say the least it is not the way by advertising international soft drinks or any products of international brand to be promoted in the poor country.
Money factor has become the measuring scale of every man in India One person is assessed to be successful in life for the salary he has and how much he gain outside his salary by saving time from office or accepting bribes .How well he shines in real estate work and hoe far he help his wife to become ‘Kodipathy’ in insurance policy work. How well he betray his job doner or his family members or friends in the effort to strive forward in life. People are assessed or measured like this and they are not scanned for the path they travelled .We relish by reading the sensational stories of Ambani Brothers,Sasi Tharur and brings out a deep breath after recognising the fact that their single day expense is above one lakh. For a developing contry this is not befetting. When the working parameter is money people accept such people as their heroes and sets the goal on making money rather than selecting the right path for a successful life.
Even this is the real fact people in large wish their leaders to be blemish less .It is due to the unrest and fatigue that people are forced to divert themselves towards evil. When it is noticed that there is no remedy in the near future the attention is distracted.
Till recent times media was a great relief for the common people to know the truth. But what we see is that each media represent certain political parties and work for them.Truth is hidden and poor people do not get the right information. Sincerity of journalism is no more and often we see the tug between the media and politicians and politicians prevail in the end and media become the force of the politicians.
The last assembly election in Kerala gives the crystal example of media influence. The trend is changed every now and then and people are put in confused state. No developmental issues are discussed during the campaign. But the personal issues of the leaders are discussed in large It is a pity that even the educated people of Kerala are distracted by all this fuss.
It should be mentioned that there is a ray of of hope has not vanished but the greatness of democracy still prevail and people are looking for great icons.
The recent support Sri Baba Amte got through internet for the satyagraha against corruption is a glorious example in this regard. Even people has started to call him second Gandhi.People spontaneously realises the good will of the people and are ready to follow them and support them.Sri V S Achuthandan is popular in Kerla because people think that he is dead against corruption.
WE NEED ICONS WHO CAN BE EMULATED .LETS HOPE THAT IT WONT BE LONG BEFORE SUCH ICONS WILL EMERGE AND OUR COUNTRY WILL RISE TO GREAT HEIGHTS AND PEOPLE WILL RECOGNISE THE FACT THAT THIS NATION IS GODS OWN COUNTRY.
JHAI HIND
