May Jagathychettan had a speedy recovery !!!

Jagathy Sreekumar an actor in Malayalam film industry have his position in the heart of people who like serious acting and pure comedy of the common man.Truely he had a great impact on the Malayalam film industry, not because of the number of awards he achieved but for his contribution to the industry. Certainly he is one of the best actors Malayalam industry has ever produced. But having a comedian stamp he is always sidelined while assigning rolls and considering for any recognition. Son of a great artist he earned his place in the industry by hard work and persvearence.Unlike most other artists he chose his own way in the field of Art. Early days he had a good base in drama. He built himself in the strong foundation and become a pure artist who didn’t have any compromise on other things which ruled the industry. He understand that his livelihood is acting and to earn money out of it. He has no option other than to act and get the remuneration. This is why he is not selective in choosing charecters.He is duty bound whatever character assigned to him will be acted upon to extreme perfection. No complaints regarding the roll provided or remuneration paid. But it is wonderful achievement that he has maintained his unassailable presence in the industry for such a long time to produce variety of rolls each character has his own identity and not stereotype. Some of them are positive some negative, and some pure comedy. People like Jagathy Sreekumar in a film they know that Jagathy will have some special thing under his sleeve to entertain them.Nishchal in Kilukkam,Narayanan inThalavattam,Dance master,CBI officer,idiot,greedy man so on and so forth…..How many characters he performed ,some time it may be so small, but that little thing will have a great impact on the outcome of the film. He lived the life of an ordinary man, with all his weakness, but he did not have any compromise on his approach to Art. I do remember his comments as a judge in the programme “Mamooty the best actor award”,his knowledge of acting is vast, precious and dynamic. And I can understand from there how he is different from many celebrities who doesn’t even know the basics of acting and consider themselves as legends. Still I can’t be leave that the life of the great man is under stake.He is battling it out to stage a comeback but so far in vain. The reports from the Hospital authorities are not at all optimistic. But we may leave it out to fate. But what is heartening is the indifferent stand of the media and Malayalam film industry.Ofcourse very little can they do for the recovery of the damages but are they doing justice to this greatman.I pen down these little words and hope my Ambilichttan may have a speedy recovery if not to the industry but to life, for he will have lot more things under his belt to provide to the emerging talents.
